Moving to New York
After graduating from BTWHSPVA, Alysia attended The Juilliard School in Manhattan and received her BFA in Dance. While in college, Alysia grew her interests in community engagement, choreography, and teaching. Juilliard awarded Alysia two grants that allowed her to build and direct her programs in her hometown of Dallas, TX. A highlight of her education is receiving Choreographic Honors, which allowed her work “Errand Boys” to be performed twice in Lincoln Center.
While in Manhattan
Alysia participated in the GLUCK Fellowship - building and performing in programs for adults, children and people with special needs. Here she continued to faciliate space for dance to take place in non-traditional spaces. During her time at Juilliard, Alysia also served in rebuilding and advising the Juilliard Black Student Union.
